Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association
“Virginians have a real advocate in Attorney General Mark Herring. He’s been a consistent and strong leader for the people of the Commonwealth combating gun violence, protecting reproductive rights and health care, and reforming a broken criminal justice system including clearing the state’s sexual assault kit backlog. He’s a trusted colleague and friend—and we look forward to seeing him continue to fight for the people of Virginia.”
Statement from Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association
“Over the last eight years, Attorney General Mark Herring has been a leading figure in the movement of Attorneys General to the national stage and helping define Democratic AGs as the defenders of our democracy. AG Herring has proven to be the kind of leader who is willing to take on the big fights for the people of the Commonwealth. Under his leadership, the AG’s office has advanced civil rights, initiated plans for reforming the criminal justice system, guaranteed justice for victims of sexual assault by testing and clearing the rape kit backlog, expanding access to voting, defending the Affordable Care Act, and protecting reproductive rights. AG Herring is the people’s lawyer, a protector of Virginia families, and he is making Virginia a better place for all the people of the Commonwealth. We look forward to keeping Virginia blue in 2021.”
