Virginia AG Jason Miyares Suspiciously Silent on Trump Pardons for Violent January 6th Insurrectionists
January 24, 2025
Washington, DC – This week, after the Trump administration released pardons for violent insurrectionists charged in the U.S. Capitol attack, Republican AGs have been remarkably silent on the matter – including Virginia Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares. Yet just days before, Miyares publicly condemned a commutation of a sentence by the Biden administration.
Statement from Carolyn Fiddler, DAGA’s Director of Communications:
“Far-right MAGA AG Jason Miyares has been silent about the Trump administration’s pardoning of violent insurrectionists who broke the law, attacked law enforcement officers, and attempted to overthrow our democracy. Miyares is clearly more concerned with scoring political points than keeping Virginians safe – a troubling quality in an Attorney General.
“Virginians deserve to know how committed AG Miyares really is to justice and public safety, and his recent conduct calls that commitment into question. Virginians can’t trust him to hold bad actors accountable when he’s clearly beholden to Trump’s MAGA agenda.”
