Weinzapfel Ready to Work for Hoosiers; Restore Independence as Attorney General
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement from Executive Director Sean Rankin on the results from Indiana’s Democratic primary election for Attorney General. State Sen. Karen Tallian and former Evansville Mayor Jonathan Weinzapfel ran a competitive primary consistently outraising the ever-shuffling GOP candidate pool and building momentum for Democrats across the state. DAGA thanks both candidates for running smart primary races.
Statement from Sean Rankin, Executive Director of the Democratic Attorneys General Association:
“Today, Hoosiers came one step closer to electing an independent watchdog as state Attorney General. Jonathan Weinzapfel has spent his entire career fighting for Hoosier families, first as a state representative and then as Mayor of Evansville. As Attorney General, Weinzapfel will protect health care, defend protections for pre-existing conditions, and prioritize Hoosier families. After years of one-party rule, Indiana needs an independent watchdog who will serve as a much-needed check and balance across the state. Weinzapfel has a history of staying true to Indiana values, and standing up for what is right – regardless of party politics. We are proud to support his campaign, and we look forward to flipping this seat blue as Hoosiers get to know Jonathan Weinzapfel as the hard-working public servant they need as Attorney General.”
