NEW DAGA LEADERSHIP
Last week, DAGA announced Nevada AG Aaron Ford would join Massachusetts AG Maura Healey as Co-Chair of the committee. “It is an honor to join AG Healey to lead the Democratic Attorneys General Association. Democrats are the party of protecting health care, advancing civil rights, pushing for criminal justice reform, and expanding reproductive rights,” said AG Ford. Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum will remain on DAGA’s Executive Committee as Chair Emeritus, and Delaware AG Kathy Jennings will join DAGA’s Executive Committee. Read more about DAGA’s leadership here.
2020 ELECTION RECAP
DAGA played a major role in re-electing North Carolina AG Josh Stein and Pennsylvania AG Josh Shapiro in tough battleground states. These critical wins come after a year of record-breaking fundraising of $21 million across all entities that helped fuel DAGA’s electoral strategy to protect incumbents and hold the GOP accountable by creating competitive races in red and purple states. THE STATES WHERE IT HAPPENED
Democratic Attorneys General from across the country in key battleground states came together last week to discuss the 2020 election, the ongoing challenges by the Trump campaign and a few extremist Republican AGs, and their plans for working with the Biden-Harris Administration. The conversation was moderated by Hawaii AG Clare Connors and participants were Michigan AG Dana Nessel, Minnesota AG Keith Ellison, Nevada AG Aaron Ford, North Carolina AG Josh Stein and Wisconsin AG Josh Kaul. Democratic AGs continue win in court against the frivolous lawsuits filed by the Trump campaign as they seek ways to delay the transition to the Biden-Harris Administration. AG SPOTLIGHT
Following New York AG Tish James’ urging of business leaders to speak out about the need for a peaceful transition, more than 160 CEOs urged the Trump administration to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election and begin the transition process. The letter reads, “Every day that an orderly presidential transition process is delayed, our democracy grows weaker in the eyes of our own citizens and the nation’s stature on the global stage is diminished.” AG James said, “This isn’t about partisan politics, but about protecting our democracy. Without the rule of law and an orderly transfer of power, everything from commerce to health care delivery to national security is in peril, and our business leaders can see that as clearly as the rest of us.” Read more here.
