April 8, 2021
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) Co-Chairs Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford released the following statement in response to the Biden-Harris Administration taking action to address the gun violence epidemic across the country.
Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association
“Today, the Biden-Harris Administration took much needed action to curb the gun violence that has plagued our country for far too long and taken far too many lives.”
“As leaders on the front lines of the fight to stop gun violence, we applaud the Biden-Harris Administration for taking this multi-pronged approach to protecting people from the devastation brought by gun violence. We are especially grateful to see the Administration take serious and quick action to address ‘Ghost Guns’ – a loophole that Democratic AGs have been urging the Administration to close.”
“Today’s actions are a welcomed and important step. We join the Biden-Harris Administration, however, in calling on Congress to take swift and comprehensive action to update our outdated laws, and close loopholes too often exploited.”
“Democratic AGs will continue to work with the Biden-Harris Administration, federal agencies, and local and federal law enforcement to address and end gun violence. We call on our Republican AG colleagues to join us in good faith and work together on commonsense, bipartisan reforms that will save lives in every state — red or blue — across our country.”
