DAGA Co-Chair Statement On Donald Trump’s Jan. 6 Indictment

August 1, 2023

Washington, DC — The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) released the following statement today after the news of Donald Trump’s indictment for his actions around January 6, 2021.

Statement from DAGA Co-Chairs Delaware AG Kathy Jennings and Nevada AG Aaron Ford:

“Donald Trump’s indictment makes it clear that no one is above the law. On January 6, 2021, extremist Republicans who refused to accept the presidential election results attacked our democracy, our law enforcement, and Congress. That was a grave and dark day – and today’s indictment is a reminder that the recent history we’ve just lived through is only one election away.

“Democratic Attorneys General are at the forefront of the fight to protect American democracy and fundamental freedoms. Across the country, Democratic AGs are using the power of their offices to protect the will of the people. And we won’t stand for anyone threatening violence against election administrators and workers or attempting to undermine the integrity of our elections. Just as we did in 2020, we will work to safeguard the upcoming presidential election from those threats.”
