April 21, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) Co-Chairs Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford released the following statement regarding the confirmation of Vanita Gupta to serve as the next U.S. Associate Attorney General.

Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association

“Congratulations to Vanita Gupta on her confirmation to serve as the next Associate Attorney General. We know Gupta, as AAG, will bring the experience and commitment needed to restore the rule of law and bring equity and justice for all back to the U.S. Department of Justice. Her extensive work has won her the respect of both law enforcement officials and the communities we serve.”

“At a time when people’s rights are under near constant attack by extremist politicians, domestic terrorism is on the rise, and the inequity in the justice system is clear, Gupta’s experience and commitment certainly meets the moment.”

“With Gupta serving in a key leadership role at the U.S. Department of Justice, we know state AGs have a true partner at the federal level and a crucial ally in the fight to protect people’s rights, bring much needed reforms, and stop the rise of threats – both foreign and domestic. As Associate Attorney General, there is no doubt Gupta will be a real credit to the Biden-Harris Administration.”
