DAGA Congratulates Massachusetts Governor-Elect Maura Healey on Historic Victory

November 8, 2022

Washington, DC — The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) congratulates Massachusetts Governor-elect and current Attorney General Maura Healey on her historic win, becoming the first woman elected and first openly LGBTQIA+ governor of the state. Healey will continue her agenda promoting criminal justice, protecting reproductive freedom, and encouraging statewide economic development in her next role leading the Bay State.

Statement from Geoff Burgan, Communications Director, Democratic Attorneys General Association:

We applaud AG Healey on her historic victory tonight. Governor-elect Healey has been one of the most active Attorneys General in the entire country and a tenacious fighter for Massachusetts across her two terms. From taking on gun violence and domestic abusers, to prosecuting predatory lenders and taking on the entrenched special interests, to holding former President Trump accountable for his dangerous and lawless behavior, Governor-elect Healey has never backed down from a tough fight during her tenure as AG. She has left a lasting legacy in the AG’s office, and we are excited to see all that incoming AG-elect Andrea Campbell will accomplish in the years ahead.”

“Thank you, Governor-elect Healey, for your years of dedicated service and leadership both in Massachusetts and at DAGA as a former Co-Chair and Executive Committee member. We are so excited to see all that you will accomplish in your first gubernatorial term.”
