DEBATE FLAG: Eric Toney is Soft on Crime

October 17, 2022

Toney’s Rhetoric Doesn’t Match the Record

Washington, DC — In Wisconsin, GOP AG nominee Eric Toney has repeatedly touted his position on public safety as part of his campaign slogan, but that’s all it’s been — a slogan. Yesterday, in a debate broadcast on WISN’s UPFRONT, the numbers painted a different picture than the one Toney has been lying about. It’s clear that Eric Toney has made Wisconsin less safe, and he’ll continue to put politics ahead of public safety.

During the debate, Democratic AG Josh Kaul called out Toney on his lies:

“Under Mr. Toney’s leadership, over a six-year period from 2013 to 2018, 80% of people who were charged with felony domestic abuse cases, 80% of them were not convicted of a felony, only 20%. One out of five. That’s because of the leadership of the DA’s office. And the same thing applies to this case, where they missed the nine-time felons’ record.”

Wisconsinites need a real leader who will keep them safe. Eric Toney is an extremist that will make Wisconsin less safe. He won’t prosecute violent crime, but he will prosecute abortion in cases of rape and incest. He’s too extreme for Wisconsin.
