Democratic AGs Mourn the Loss of Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods

October 24, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Arizona GOP Attorney General Grant Woods passed away unexpectedly this weekend. He was a longtime champion of consumer protection and democracy both in and out of office.

Statement from Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Nevada AG Aaron Ford, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Attorneys General Association:

“The people of Arizona and our country have lost a dedicated public servant and patriot in former Arizona Attorney General Grant Woods, and we have lost a dear friend and colleague. Grant’s work transcended our political parties. He served as then-Congressman John McCain’s Chief of Staff before his run for Attorney General, and both in and out of office he never hesitated to stand up for those who needed a voice. He fought for immigrants when it was a political risk to him, and he was a passionate advocate for democracy and voting rights. Grant represented the best of American politics — he put country before party time after time. We send our condolences to his wife Marlene, their five children, and their extended family and community. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the Democratic Attorneys General Association.”

Our democracy can't wait.
