Intro
Eli Savit is the Democratic nominee for Attorney General of Michigan.
Early Life and Education
The son of two educators, Eli was born and raised in Ann Arbor. He attended Kalamazoo College in western Michigan.
He then attended the University of Michigan Law School.
Career Highlights
After graduating from law school, Eli worked for two federal judges before being selected to clerk on the US Supreme Court. There he clerked for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Eli went on to serve as Senior Legal Counsel for the City of Detroit. There, he played a role in securing tens of millions of dollars by holding the opioid industry accountable and led the City’s efforts in the landmark right-to-literacy lawsuit on behalf of Detroit schoolchildren.
Eli was elected Prosecuting Attorney for Washtenaw County in 2020. There, he established dedicated units for sexual assault and domestic violence victims, successfully prosecuted cold-case rape cases, and built the only stand-alone worker and consumer protection unit in a prosecutor’s office in the entire state.
Attorney General Priorities
As Attorney General, Eli will safeguard our Constitution to secure Michiganders’ rights, prosecute bad actors, and protect the environment by holding corporate polluters accountable.
Eli knows Michigan’s AG must be responsive to local needs — and work with communities to find solutions. Which is why he plans to create strong working relationships with local law enforcement and community leaders.
