Hearing Officer Recommends Preliminary 60-day Suspension of Indiana AG Hill’s Law License

AG Hill Remains Under Investigation for Sexual Misconduct by Four Women, including an Indiana Lawmaker

Late last week, a hearing officer appointed by the Indiana State Supreme Court filed a report stating that Indiana’s Republican Attorney General, Curtis Hill, “committed the criminal act of battery.” As part of this report, the hearing officer recommended that AG Hill’s law license be suspended for 60-days, without automatic reinstatement.

The hearing officer said, the “respondent’s conduct was offensive, invasive, damaging and embarrassing,” and that as “Attorney General, he used his state office staff and others to engage in a public campaign to defend himself and intimidate the complainants.”

In December, the Indiana State Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission recommended AG Hill’s law license be suspended for at least 2 years, without automatic reinstatement.

The hearing officer assigned to this matter also noted that AG Hill “appears more concerned with his political and professional reputation than with addressing the charges.”

The Indiana State Supreme Court will decide if AG Hill, who is credibly accused of inappropriately touching multiple women at a party, will be held accountable for his disgusting and abhorrent behavior.

AG Hill remains toxic, so much so that the leaders within his own party have called on him to resign, and with a tough primary challenger, the Governor is refusing to show support for AG Hill’s re-election. Yet, this hasn’t stopped local party officials from welcoming him with open arms. The Republican Attorneys General Association, the national GOP campaign operation, has also failed to condemn the alleged behavior and continues to remain completely silent about the accusations against its former Vice Chair.

The GOP is in a real mess with AG Hill. Thankfully, Indiana voters will have the chance to make their voices heard this November on whether they want their top legal and law enforcement officer to be a serial harasser with a suspended law license or someone who puts public service first.
