Virginia’s far-right Republican AG, Jason Miyares, has a long history of putting politics above people and only looking out for himself and Republican special interests.
Since Trump took office, Miyares has stood by silently as Trump’s policies have harmed the commonwealth time and time again. As mass federal firings left hundreds of thousands of Virginians fearing for their jobs, Miyares did nothing. In fact, Virginia had a five-year streak as one of the nation’s top states for business. Thanks in part to federal job cuts and Miyares’s total inaction, the commonwealth has lost that status.
MAGA Miyares is also an anti-abortion extremist who wants to restrict reproductive rights in the commonwealth. He’s wildly out of step with everyday Virginians and has sided with GOP Gov. Youngkin to try to restrict access to abortion and made it harder for Virginians to make their own healthcare decisions.
So far, Democratic AGs have filed dozens of lawsuits against the Trump administration, and they keep racking up wins against his destructive agenda. On everything from education funding to public health grants, Dem AGs are delivering resources back to their states. Miyares hasn’t joined onto a single one of those lawsuits, leaving Virginians to suffer the consequences.
Miyares is a weak Attorney General who’s abandoned Virginians to side with Donald Trump as his unlawful policies have unleashed suffering and chaos across the commonwealth.
It’s time to elect an Attorney General who works for Virginians, not the president.
