ON THE TRAIL

SPOTTED: MASKLESS IN UTAH
Republican AG Sean Reyes was spotted at Trump’s rally in Nevada this week—inside and not wearing a mask. DAGA’s Political Director Farah Melendez, a Utah native, reacted with a statement saying, “Sean Reyes’ disregard for public safety is dangerous and goes against what scientists and even Trump’s White House advises. His actions blatantly ignore the thousands of Utahns in hospitals struggling to overcome COVID-19, the hundreds of neighbors we’ve lost due to inaction like his, and the entire state that depends on the Attorney General to lead by example.” Read the full statement here. Read Democratic AG nominee Greg Skordas’s reaction here.

MT VETS SPEAK OUT
DAGA released two more videos in the Montana veterans’ series focused on Republican AG nominee Austin Knudsen’s anti-public lands platforms and disrespect of vets. John Tarr, a retired military officer and former commander, shared his concerns about Knudsen potentially serving on the land board—a seat filled by the Montana Attorney General. John BowenHollow, a retired Navy Seal and Purple Heart recipient, shared his concerns over Knudsen’s involvement in blocking veterans from accessing an American Legion Park near Culbertson. Watch the videos of John Tarr (here) and John BowenHollow (here).

BONUS: These videos were released leading up to the Montana AG debate, which airs this weekend. Learn what questions Montana voters have for Austin Knudsen here.

BIG PLAN FOR BIG SKY WORKERS
Democratic AG nominee Raph Graybill held a press conference with MT Lt. Governor and Gubernatorial nominee Mike Cooney to share his plan for protecting Montana’s workers. “Unions built the middle class in MT and brought dignity to work. The threat against organized labor is real, but together we can stop it,” said Graybill. Read the full plan here.

WV DOCTORS CONFRONT WV AG MORRISEY
Over 30 West Virginia doctors called on Republican AG Patrick Morrisey to withdraw from the ACA repeal lawsuit. The doctors said Morrisey’s actions “will do irreparable harm to the health care coverage of 200,000 West Virginians and to our state’s economy.” Democratic AG nominee Sam Petsonk also called out Morrisey for attempting to put health care for 718,400 West Virginians with pre-existing conditions at risk. “It’s never too late to admit you were wrong. So, I’m calling on Attorney General Patrick Morrisey to do the right thing and remove West Virginia from this lawsuit,” said Petsonk. Read more here.

BONUS: DAGA released a new blog post to detail how Morrisey earned his nickname “Pain Pill Pat.” Read the blog here.

MULTISTATE MOMENTS

ELECTION INTEGRITY

  • TRUMP TWEETS: Trump continues to launch baseless attacks on the states and spread misinformation about the upcoming elections. DAGA Co-Chairs Massachusetts AG Maura Healey and Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum fought back saying, “The greatest threat to our election integrity lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue…Voting-by-mail has been in place since the Civil War, and many states—including those overseen by both Republican and Democratic officials—have incorporated vote-by-mail for decades without fraud or abuse.” Read the full statement, where DAGA Co-Chairs call on Republican AGs to speak up against these attacks, here. Read more about Trump’s dangerous attacks here.
  • DEM AGs ON TV:
    • Nevada AG Aaron Ford went on Fox News to address Trump’s lies suggesting Governor Sisolak would “cheat” in the upcoming November elections. AG Ford set the record straight, “I have no concern about the integrity of our elections.” Watch the full interview here.
    • North Carolina AG Josh Stein appeared on MSNBC twice this week to reassure voters on the safety and security of NC elections. On the final show of KasieDC this past Sunday, AG Stein said “We want every eligible voter in NC to vote and to know that voting is easy, safe and secure” AG Stein also talked to Katy Tur here.

COMBATING THE CLIMATE CRISIS
A Democratic AG coalition challenged the Trump Administration’s EPA over a recent rollback of existing standards that limit the emissions of methane gas. DAGA Co-Chair Oregon AG Ellen Rosenblum said, “Methane is a highly potent greenhouse gas—more than 80 times as potent as carbon dioxide during its first 20 years in the atmosphere. We must not allow critical environmental protections to be stripped away.” Read more about the latest action by Democratic AGs to combat the ongoing climate crisis here.
